Wild Child, the award-winning indie rock band from Austin, Tx., was originally conceived in the backseat of a tour van when founding father and mother Alexander Beggins and Kelsey Wilson were touring as backup musicians for the Danish band The Migrant. Beggins, who played accordion for The Migrant, brought a ukulele on the tour mostly because it fit well in the vehicle and was easy to carry around while on the road. Through use of the uke during their journeys, Beggins and Wilson realized they made beautiful music together and Wild Child was born when some friends were added to complete the band.

In an interview with Tune Groover in 2013 Beggins said that although they are not and never have been a couple, he considered himself and Wilson “musical soulmates” and described their experience of immediate success with their first album Pillow Talk in 2011 as “surreal” and that they were “thrown some lucky stones.” That was followed by being named best indie band at Austin’s SXSW Festival in 2013 and 2014, and interest from Ben Kweller to produce their second LP, which came out in 2013 and was called The Runaround.

With the strong single, “Crazy Bird,” the band hit the late night talk show circuit and their name and fame continued to grow.

In 2015, Wild Child, who along with Beggins and Wilson and without a single guitar, also include Sadie Wolfe, Matt Bradshaw, and Tom Myers as members, hit the road in support of their third album Fools to much critical success.

Tonight they make their first return to the High Dive in Gainesville since 2013 with doors opening at 8 PM and the show beginning at 9.

You can purchase tickets for $12 and $14 via TICKETFLY.
