The beauty of living near downtown Gainesville is that you are literally a short walk away from an array of great bands on any given Friday or Saturday night.

Tonight is certainly no exception to this rule with such stalwarts as The Struts playing (with Beware of Darkness opening) at the High Dive, Tom Petty tribute band Heavy Petty at the Bo Diddley Plaza, and Beatle Tribute band The Threetles – led by Gainesville favorite Chuck Martin at the Atlantic Nightspot. If that’s not enough to walk your socks off on Friday night, Ricky Kendall and Michael Claytor will perform at Public and General on Saturday night.

The Struts are an English rock n’ roll band from Derby who have cracked the US rock charts and can be best described as having emulated such bands as Queen, Oasis, the Rolling Stones and the Smiths and coming up with a modern sound all their own. The band consists of frontman Luke Spiller, along with Adam Slack, Jed Elliot and Gethin Davies.
