Gargsville podcast # 10 on Tune Groover Radio features Rob Thorne, professional drummer for 62 years and a member of the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
For the latest episode of Gargsville, Gargs interviews Rob Thorne about his remarkable music career from Tune Groover studios at the House of Gargs near downtown Gainesville, Fla. Together they discuss Rob’s family history in music, including his father Bob being a part of the Big Band Les Brown’s Band of Renown, which featured such guest stalwarts as Doris Day.
Rob got his start professionally at the age of 12 and hasn’t looked back since, playing with such artists as The Drifters, Rufus Thomas, The Shirelles, The Isley Brothers, Little Eva, The Ink Spots, Chet Atkins, Johnny Cash, The Catalinas, and the Spongetones among many others.
The podcast also features a heartfelt tribute to Tom Petty and a half-serious interview with University of Florida expert Old Uncle Hound about the Florida Football Gators and Head Coach Jim Mclewain parting ways.
